Description: Reforestation of the Sandy Bay area has been carried out since 2015 after a large forest fire destroyed more than 2,000 hectares of forest. The aim of the project is to prevent such fire consequences as the soil erosion on the slopes and ingress of the soil into the lake, to ensure the safety of the Great Baikal Trail section passing through the bay and to restore the natural beauty of the area. 4.5 thousand seedlings of native tree species (pines, larches, etc.) have already been planted in the Sandy Bay area over the previous years thanks to the environmental institution and volunteers. The transportation of participants and delivery of seedlings are carried out by water transport.
